Special Notice: Swamp Pharmacy
Camp Swamp will now provide and have on hand at the Medical Cabin common over the counter medications (OTCs). (Click button below to view list.)
DO NOT BRING ANY OF THESE MEDICINES or COMPLETE A MEDICATION ADMINISTERED LOG FORM FOR ANY LISTED OTCs.
Instead, list on your child’s registration form and/or in the Health Section of your child’s Student Record (= / Account / Student) within your Swamp Account all medications he or she takes as needed–these are typically OTCs–so the Medical Staff can dispense appropriately.
Do NOT list all the ones you agree with on the list above; only those that pertain to your child, or those you prefer them to have, or those you know work more effectively. By accepting our Terms & Policies at registration you give the Medical Staff permission to administer OTCs.
Required Forms
1. Medication Administered Log
All prescribed or regularly-taken medicines are to be checked-in using the Medication Administered Log Form and given to the medical staff on arrival at camp. The form is to be downloaded and completed prior to check-in. Do NOT use the Swamp pharmacy for regular taken medications; the pharmacy is provided for as-needed situations. For example, Camp Swamp is not in a position to supply every camper who takes Claritin on a regular basis though it is listed as an inventoried OTC; this is the same for any OTC. You are to provide regularly-taken medicines.

Camp Swamp stores epipens in strategic locations for emergency purposes pursuant to GA Statute O.C.G.A. § 31-1-15 (click button to view statute); however, these are not for general consumption. If your child requires an epi-pen, whether by choice or necessity, you are expected to provide that epipen and communicate this with the Medical Staff and the counselor treating it as any other prescribed medicine according to our check-in policies and procedures. Do NOT expect us to provide an epipen for you. Epi-pens are to be kept on the camper’s person at all times.
NO MEDICINE IS TO BE KEPT BY THE CAMPER IN HIS OR HER CABIN.
The medical staff oversees the administration of all medications.
If there have been any changes in medical or emotional history since you filled out the medical form, please alert the medical staff on arrival.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Medications are generally administered at mealtimes and/or when specifically prescribed. We will do our best to remind your child to take his/her medications, but it is not the responsibility of the counselors or the staff to remind your child to take his/her medicines. IF YOUR CHILD IS UNABLE TO FULFILL THIS RESPONSIBILITY, then perhaps he/she is not mature enough to attend camp.
Help is given to the youngest campers by their counselors and via general announcements as reminders. As the campers’ age increases we expect their responsibility to increase as well. Please discuss with your child before coming to camp so they have a safe and medically responsible week. Thanks!
